5 Best RTS Game
Long time not post,I dont have skin right now so i decide to post something
Best RTS Game:
1.Company of heroes
WWII RTS Game,It was a tough decision for my number one real time strategy game, both are unmatched in their own ways. Even after four years since it's release Company of Heroes, still looks fantastic. The game contains an engaging and challenging single player campaign and multipalyer skirmishes. Relic Entertainment has give the game new life with Company of Heroes Online which is a free to play full version the multiplayer game. There are also two stand alone expansions for Company of Heroes, Opposing Fronts and Tales of valor, that add new units and factions.
2.Starcraft II:Wing of liberty
Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty is the long awaited sequel to the best selling sci-fi RTS game Starcraft released back in 1998. Set four years after the last Starcraft expansion, Brood War, Starcraft II will take players to some of the same worlds in the original game with an all new storyline and advanced graphics and 3d environments. The three factions from the original game will also make a return in Starcraft II and include the technologically advanced humanoid race the Protoss, the human faction know as the Terran and the insectoid race the Zerg. Many of the units from the original Starcraft will also make a return in Starcraft II along with new units, abilities & upgrades. Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty also includes a single player campaign as well as multiplayer modes supported over Battle.net. Custom maps and campaigns can be created through the all new Galaxy Editor and then made available for anyone to try over Battle.net.
3.Rome:Total war
Rome: Total War (often abbreviated to RTW or Rome) is a PC strategy game developed by The Creative Assembly and released on 22 September 2004 by Activision.[1] The game is the third title in The Creative Assembly's Total War series.
The game's main campaign is set during the rule of the late Roman Republic and early Roman Empire (273 BC – AD 14),[2] with the player assuming control of one of three Roman families; other factions are playable outside the main campaign. Gameplay consists of real-time tactical battles framed within a turn-based strategic campaign, taking place across Europe, North Africa and the Near East. On the large strategic scale, players spend each turn managing diplomacy, developing infrastructure, moving armies, and managing the population's growth and orderliness through taxes and gladiatorial games, among other tasks. On the smaller scale, real-time battles against enemy armies take place within or between cities, with the player commanding forces which can contain thousands of individual soldiers.
Rome: Total War was released to near global critical acclaim, and has been well received by gamers, going on to generate a persistent and loyal modding fanbase. It is widely regarded to be among the greatest video games of all time.
4.World in conflict
World in Conflict, or WiC, is a real-time tactical video game developed by the Swedish video game company Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft (formerly Sierra Entertainment) for Microsoft Windows. The game was released in September 2007.[3] An expansion pack was released in March 2009 under the name World in Conflict: Soviet Assault;[4][5] however, the console version has since been dropped from its productions by Activision and instead only exists as the expansion to the PC version.
The game is set in 1989 during the social, political, and economic collapse of the Soviet Union. However, the title postulates an alternate history scenario where the Soviet Union pursued a course of war to remain in power.
5.Battlefield 2
Battlefield 2 (commonly abbreviated to BF2[1]) is a computer game by the Swedish developer Digital Illusions CE (DICE). During development, Trauma Studios contributed to the development of the game after it was acquired by DICE. Battlefield 2 was published by Electronic Arts and is the third full game in the Battlefield series, released on June 21, 2005 in North America for Microsoft Windows.[1] The latest version is v1.50, which was released on September 1, 2009 and added the content of the Euro Force and Armored Fury booster packs, as well as the Highway Tampa and Operation Blue Pearl maps.[2]
Players fight in a modern battlefield, using modern weapon systems.[3] Battlefield 2 is a first-person shooter with some strategy and RPG elements.[4] The single player features missions that involve clashes between US Marines, China and the fictional Middle Eastern Coalition. The multiplayer aspect of the game allows players to organize into squads that come under the leadership of a single commander to promote teamwork.[5]
The story takes place in the early 21st century during a fictional world war between various power blocs: China, the European Union (playable as of the 1.50 patch), the fictional Middle Eastern Coalition (MEC), Russia (playable only in the Special Forces expansion) and the United States. In-game, the European Union and the United States fight China and the MEC. It is known that in the game's story, the EU and the US are allies[6] and the EU has negotiated a peace deal with Russia[7] but it is unknown if China and the MEC are allies. The game takes place in different fronts, as the Middle East and China are being invaded by US and EU forces, and the United States is being invaded by Chinese and MEC forces.

Famous moms & Look-alike kids
Famous moms & their look-alikes
It's not uncommon for a child to bear a passing resemblance to her parents, but some of these ladies look eerily similar to their moms. Check out our gallery of famous mothers and their look-alike daughters.
Goldie & KateSurely these blond beauties have been mistaken for sisters a time or two. What will we learn about them in the tell-all book coming out later this year
Beyoncé & Tina
It's obvious where Beyoncé got her beauty -- those high cheekbones and sultry eyes were a gift from her mom.
Kim & Kris
The reality-TV star mother and daughter may not share the same family name, but they definitely share genes. Kim and her mother are almost identical in the face.
Reese & Ava
Reese Witherspoon's 11-year-old daughter Ava is the spitting image of the "Legally Blonde" star. It's the eyes, the jawline, the hair, the smile ... well, it's everything.
Madonna & Lourdes
Even though Madonna has blond hair these days, the likeness between her and her teenage daughter is definitely there.
Bette & Sophie
The likeness between Bette Midler and her daughter Sarah is more than a little freaky. They could easily be identical twins.
Lindsay & Dina
This troubled starlet and her limelight-loving mother have had their share of ups and downs - all the while bearing striking resemblances to each other.
Daisy & Pearl
Fashionistas Pearl and Daisy Lowe share the same eyes, nose, mouth and raven-dark hair. Model Daisy also bears more than a passing resemblance to her father, Gavin Rossdale, of the rock band Bush.
Susan & Eva
Growing up, gorgeous Eva Amurri spent a lot of time on film sets with her equally stunning mother, actress Susan Sarandon.

Two helicopters ferried 79 commandos and one dog into Osama Bin Laden's compound for Sunday's successful kill operation. Why did the Pentagon send in a canine with the special forces?
For its sniffer, of course. The special operations forces do have their own canine training program, but it's very hush-hush. Furthermore, neither the Pentagon nor the White House is talking about the role the dog played in Sunday's operation, and they haven't even confirmed that a dog was involved at all.
If Navy SEAL Team Six did indeed bring along a dog, then we might guess at its role based on the Pentagon's non-confidential Military Working Dog Program. It's possible that the commandos brought a specialized search dog, which would have been sent in ahead of the humans to find explosives or people hidden inside the building. Or they might have used a "combat tracker" dog instead—one of a newer class of military animals developed by the Marines just a year ago. These are taught to pick up the scent of a particular individual, usually from a footprint or a few drops of blood, and then follow the trail.
If Bin Laden had heard the choppers coming and fled the scene, a combat tracker dog could have been used to track him down as he high-tailed it through the streets of Abbottabad.
The Pentagon currently employs 2,700 dogs, up from the pre-9/11 litter of 1,800. Most of them were purchased in Europe, where a long tradition of using dogs for police and military purposes has created great breeding lines. Before buying a dog, the Pentagon tests the animal for aggression, fear of gunshots, and inclination to search. The Pentagon also gives each dog a thorough physical examination, including X-rays, to confirm that it's in top condition. For about a decade, the Department of Defense has been trying to establish its own breeding program, out of concern that our supply of top-quality dogs could be choked off in wartime.

When it's time to send a military working dog on assignment, a handler shows up at the main kennel at Lackland Air Force Base and completes a training course with two separate animals. The one that works better with that particular handler is sent off with him to a new home, while the runner-up goes back into the singles pool.
Then the newly minted duo does some more training together before taking the field. There are entirely separate courses of study for general service patrol dogs, specialized search dogs, and combat trackers. Military dogs must take continuing education classes throughout their careers, as their skills tend to erode after about 30 days without practice.
The U.S. military has deployed canines for centuries, but never sent them into combat until about fifty years ago. Military dogs used to be trained for super-aggression. They were used as sentries and guard dogs, and were taught to distrust all humans but the handler. As a result, they couldn't function as part of a combat team, because they had a habit of biting other members of the unit. Modern war dogs are far more comfortable working with strangers, even those wearing intimidating commando outfits.

Amanda Knox More Time Dna
Independent forensic experts are seeking more time to conclude their review of DNA evidence in the appeals trial of Amanda Knox, news reports and lawyers said Friday.
The two court-appointed experts are looking into DNA traces on the knife believed to have been used to kill Meredith Kercher, a 21-year-old Briton who shared an apartment with Knox in Perugia, and into DNA traces found on the clasp of the bra Kercher was allegedly wearing at the time she was killed.
Knox, an American student, was convicted of sexually assaulting and killing Kercher and sentenced to 26 years in jail. Her boyfriend at the time of the murder, Raffaele Sollecito of Italy, was convicted of the same charges and sentenced to 25 years.
They both deny wrongdoing and their appeals trial is under way in Perugia.
The experts — originally scheduled to conclude their review on Monday, and then report to the court on May 21 — have asked for a delay of about 40 days, according to the ANSA news agency. The request was confirmed Friday by Francesco Maresca, a lawyer representing the Kercher family, and by Luca Maori, an attorney for Sollecito.
During the first trial, in the absence of a clear motive for the brutal killing, DNA evidence was crucial. Prosecutors maintained that Knox's DNA was on the knife handle, Kercher's DNA on the blade, and Sollecito's on the clasp of Kercher's bra.
The independent experts were mandated to either conduct a retest or, if not possible, assess the accuracy of the original testing. They have found that DNA traces were too small for a retest and are now reviewing the original analyses to assess whether they were reliable and up to standard, said Maresca.
The experts sought the review's extension because they want to study more documents regarding the tests, ANSA said.
The defense has always challenged the accuracy of the analyses presented in the first trial, saying traces were too low to be conclusive and alleging possible contamination. The bra was recovered at the crime scene only several weeks after the slaying. Kercher was found dead in the apartment she shared with Knox on Nov. 2, 2007, her throat slit.
The review was granted at the defense's request and assigned to two forensic experts of La Sapienza University in Rome. It takes place in the presence of experts appointed by the parties.
Maresca said the request was simply "dictated by the need to understand everything definitely," and did not speculate what it might mean for the ultimate outcome of the trial. Maresca is part of the trial because the Kerchers are civil plaintiffs in the case.
The next hearing will still be held on May 21. But the court will hear remaining witnesses, rather than the evidence review, and set a calendar, the lawyers said. The experts will likely present their findings to the court between late June and early July.

Shuttle Endeavour Launch Delay
When NASA officials set a new launch date for the space shuttle Endeavour, they will have to jockey around several other big events on the ground and in space: the launch of an unmanned rocket, the undocking of a Russian spacecraft from the International Space Station, and preparations for NASA's next and final space shuttle mission.
Endeavour's first launch attempt on April 29 was called off due to a technical malfunction with one of the shuttle's power systems. The system, called an auxiliary power unit, is located in the hard-to-reach rear, or aft, section of the orbiter.
NASA officials announced Tuesday (May 2) that the earliest opportunity to launch Endeavour on its STS-134 mission is May 10 at 11:21 a.m. EDT (1521 GMT). The shuttle lifts off from Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla.
Ground crews removed what is believed to be a faulty component, called the Load Control Assembly-2 (LCA-2) box, from the shuttle's aft compartment Monday night. Technicians will evaluate data from the inspections and will install a new LCA-2 box after evaluating the problem and making any necessary repairs.
"The forensic testing began," NASA spokesman Allard Beutel told SPACE.com. "They're preparing to put a new box in, but they have to get some other issues prepared and ready first."
Managers will continue to evaluate the repair process and make any adjustments to the timeline before scheduling Endeavour’s next launch attempt to the International Space Station.
That process, however, is far more complicated than simply picking a date once the repairs are complete.
Conflicts with another rocket
Launches from Kennedy Space Center must also take into account activities at the neighboring Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, where unmanned rockets lift off into space.
An unmanned Atlas 5 rocket is slated to launch May 6 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, carrying a military surveillance satellite. While NASA is aiming to launch Endeavour after May 6, the Atlas 5 will have implications for the work currently going on at the launch pad.
"If they launch in the afternoon on Friday, we're going to have to clear Launch Pad 39A for a few hours around the launch window for safety reasons," Beutel said. "If they slip, that will have an effect on us as well because we would have to do the same on Saturday."
If the Atlas 5 launch is delayed past Sunday, the Air Force would have to stand down to make way for Endeavour's launch preparations, Beutel said, unless NASA decides it cannot launch the shuttle on May 10, and needs more time to evaluate the power system failure.
Extra days for STS-134?
Endeavour's launch delay also has consequences for the length of the mission. NASA has the option of extending the 14-day STS-134 mission by two additional days, if logistically possible. But, that option may be in jeopardy because it could conflict with the undocking operations of a Russian Soyuz spacecraft, which is scheduled to depart the space station May 23.
"If we go on May 10, the full 14-day mission is unaffected, but the two extension days are affected because the undockings would be on the same day," Beutel said. "We're having to work very closely with the space station program on this, and there a whole bunch of factors involved. Ultimately it will be up to the space station program and what their priorities are."
Ideally, the two extension days would be used to take advantage of having Endeavour's six shuttle crewmembers aboard the space station to get more work done to help ready the station for its future years. This is particularly important since NASA's space shuttle program will soon be coming to a close.
But, with Endeavour's launch delayed, it may no longer be possible to extend the mission on orbit if it launches on May 10. For a launch on May 11, however, both extension days should be available.
"Right now, there are no plans to change the Soyuz undocking sequence," NASA spokesman Kelly Humphries told SPACE.com. "We need to come up with a workable plan, but the things to consider include the crew work to be done in order to prepare and support the undocking. And then, after they're gone, you're dealing with three crewmembers rather than six crewmembers on the station."
Ripple effects for Atlantis
Endeavour's launch delay could also affect preparations for the very last mission of NASA's space shuttle program -- the STS-135 flight of the shuttle Atlantis.
Atlantis is currently scheduled to launch June 28 to the International Space Station. The orbiter was slated to be moved from its processing facility to the tall Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy Space Center, where Atlantis will be joined with its orange external fuel tank and twin solid rocket boosters, on May 10. After that, Atlantis will eventually have to be rolled out to the launch pad.
"We're all waiting to see how the repairs to Endeavour go," Beutel said. "Even if we get over to the Vehicle Assembly Building on the 10th, if for some reason Endeavour launches past the 13th or 14th, there's a potential to affect Atlantis' roll to the pad."
While Atlantis is still on track to launch on June 28, if Endeavour's launch is pushed later in the month, it could potentially affect the timeline of the STS-135 mission.
All in all, many of these big decisions will depend on the progress of the work being done now at the launch pad. Mission managers plan to reconvene Friday (May 6) to determine a more definite launch date for Endeavour's STS-134 mission, based on the results of testing that will be completed in the next few days.

internet kissing machine
To the list of possible functions for the future Internet, it's time to add kissing. A Japanese lab has created a machine that can transmit a pseudo-French kiss.
The Kajimoto Laboratory at the University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo has announced that it has developed a device that uses a straw-like component to convey tongue motion to a lucky recipient with the same device on the other end. Tongue motion can also be recorded, assumedly so the other person can relive the event whenever.
Turning the straw-like element one way or the other at a given speed, this tactile telecommunication is sent to the other device. Turn-angle information is relayed to both machines to keep the straw element in the same position.
According to the lab, the device is intended for "communications within the mouth -- in other words, to obtain the feeling of kissing."
In a video posted on web sites that demonstrates the paired devices, the demonstrator doesn't actually engage with a live recipient on the other end. The transmission is demonstrated locally in the lab to another machine, which displays the same rotating straw activity. The idea is that another person could be there, and it could be on the other side of the world -- but, to date, there's no demonstrated evidence that a recipient would actually, you know, enjoy the occasion.
Of course, there are those kissers who will doubt that this age-old gesture of pleasure and affection could be replicated by a mere straw rotating on a motor. Additionally, the box containing the motor and controller to which the straw is attached seems like an improbable choice for lovers' bedside tables.
But the researchers suggest this is only the beginning. Nobuhiru Takahashi, a lab researcher, noted that a "kiss transmission device" could be developed that included -- and transmitted -- breathing, moistness of a tongue, and even taste.
Keeping in Contact with Fans
Already, the researchers are thinking about commercial possibilities, although it might be best for the world if they concentrated on their day jobs. For instance, one of the engineers told news media that the device could be used by a celebrity to maintain -- shall we say -- contact with his or her fans.
"If you have a popular entertainer use this device and record it, that could be hugely popular if you offer it to fans," a lab researcher said.
Brad Shimmin, an analyst at Current Analysis who focuses on social networking, noted that this sorta-kiss transmitter is in line with a series of physical-sensation transmission devices that have been emerging over the years.
He pointed out that Japan, in particular, seems to be a "unique culture" in that it has "an affinity for replacing humans with machines, with a high tolerance for machine-based surrogates." As an example, he pointed to robotic toys in that country that have been designed to keep elderly people company.
Assuming that kiss machines evolve beyond a rotating straw, Shimmin said he doubts physical transmission will ever become a large, viable industry. But, he predicted, there could be a niche of users, including lovers on opposite sides of the globe, for whom the future could be, in the words of singer/songwriter Bono, "even better than the real thing."

Weekend Events: No Pant Day May
Best of the Weekend
May Days: Celebrations and festivals, as reliable a sign of spring as you could ask for, are starting to pop up like the dandelions in your yard. With the Tribeca film festival just in the rear view mirror, Jazz fest in New Orleans under way and the Kentucky Derby happening this weekend, the big thaw is really happening. The weather’s getting so clement in Denver, they’re taking off their pants in public. Elsewhere, things are on the move: Cuban culture is brashly making itself known in New York, a Dallas restaurateur is set to combine nightclub, restaurant and art gallery; and the Miami neighborhood of Overtown makes a bid to reclaim its nobler history. Wherever you are, here’s hoping you’re ready to make some joyful noise. After the winter just over.
Leave your trousers at the door to celebrate National No Pants Day at the Ginn Mill in Denver. Yes, the first Friday in May is reserved to drop trou. Join a group of other equally exposed revelers for a goofy good time and make a donation of gently used dress pants or cash (you’ll have to figure out where to stow your wallet) to Denver Works.
Silent Auction, Salsa & Ceviche
Hands on Atlanta hosts a Latin-flavored fete, its 9th annual Taste of Volunteering event. This year’s focus on the city’s Latino population brings Hector Santiago, "Top Chef" contestant and owner of the Atlanta restaurants Pura Vida and Super Pan, as guest chef. On Friday, starting at 7 p.m., ticket holders can expect a lively night complete with dancing entertainment from the local troupe Salamabo, tequila and sangria tastings, and an empanada demo by Chef Santiago. But the stars of the show will be the silent and live auctions, and the specialty menu to be offered during the event.
Mothball Fleet
The Presidio defended San Francisco from naval attack during the Civil War, it was a site for people turned into refugees by the 1906 earthquake, and it's been a national park since 1996. The so-called Mothball Fleet of ships that defended the coast during World War II are now a disintegrating relic, shedding toxic paint and metal by the ton into the waters of Suisun Bay. With the fleet being slowly towed to Texas to be scrapped, the nonprofit public art organization Place in History and Workspace Limited, an artists’ group, will present a video slideshow of images from four photographers on Saturday night, mute but vibrant testaments to San Francisco's importance as a military port, narrated by the photographers themselves.
Films With Designs on Design
After a successful New York City run last fall, the Architecture and Design Film Festival will host its spring gathering at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago from through Monday. Miami’s Overtown Celebrates Its Past
Today, Overtown is a struggling inner-city neighborhood of Miami fighting for business development and a brighter future. But back in the mid-20th century, the Miami enclave was called the “Harlem of the South,” for regularly hosting music legends like Count Basie, Billie Holiday, Josephine Baker, Cab Calloway and Dizzy Gillespie. The Overtown Music Project nonprofit remembers the magical period of the area on Saturday at a Gospel Brunch at the Bethel A.M.E. Church. The non-religious celebration, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., brings together civic leaders and some of the many musicians who performed at venues during Overtown’s heyday. Also planned are readings from the works of Langston Hughes and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Social 121 Grandly Opens in Dallas
When it was announced that a celebrity chef would be leaving Loft 610 to helm the kitchen at another location, the former restaurant’s fate was in doubt. Loft 610 closed and in its place rose Social 121, something the likes of which Dallas had never seen before: a raucous hybrid of restaurant, nightclub and art gallery, the literal union of owner Scott Siers’ three passions: food, music and art. To celebrate Social 121’s opening, Siers has commissioned Chicago-based performance artist CHADWICK to paint through from Friday, to Saturday. Executive Chef Jason Skinner will dazzle patrons with the artistry of his food.
Robert Johnson's Birthday
The legendary blues musician Robert Johnson ranks among the most important figures in the American music canon. Johnson -- just 27 when he died in 1938 under mysterious circumstances -- was a prodigiously talented guitar player and songwriter. His recordings and innovations influenced generations of musicians, including legends Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Robert Plant. Johnson would have turned 100 on May 8, and the occasion is being marked by celebrations across the country. Few resonate as deeply as the one held in Greenwood, Miss. -- the small Mississippi Delta burg where Johnson died. Several days’ worth of events will be held in Johnson’s honor through Sunday.
Lohan mean paris hilton
London, May 6 (IANS) Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan has reportedly branded socialite Paris Hilton 'mean' for making fun of her jewellery theft case.
Lindsay, who is currently facing a misdemeanour theft charge for allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Los Angeles jewellery store, is upset about a joke Hilton cracked in an episode of her new reality series 'The World According to Paris'.
TMZ.com reports that Lindsay has reacted and has been telling friends: 'Paris is mean. You don't have to make fun of serious matters in people's lives to be funny.'
If convicted of stealing the necklace, Lindsay is likely to be sent to jail. Last week she was also found in breach of her probation in connection with the case and sentenced to 120 days in prison, which she was bailed from, and 480 hours of community service.
Paris and Lindsay have had a turbulent relationship since 2006, when the latter was accused of getting too close to Paris' ex-boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos.

Mark Zuckerberg House
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has bought a new home in Silicon Valley, a reported 10 minute drive from his company’s forthcoming Menlo Park campus. Before the purchase, Zuckerberg has been renting residences in the same area.
The San Jose Mercury News reveals that he likely paid approximately $7 million for the new digs, which houses five full bathrooms, a sunroom, a sweeping porch, saltwater pool, and ample privacy. According to a real estate blog, the estate was built in 1903 and has gone through various renovations, including an entertainment pavilion and outdoor fireplace.
The report stops short of printing his address, however – which is probably for the best, considering that restraining order he had to have issued in January.

Bin Laden Wife
One of Osama bin Laden's wives acted as a human shield in an unsuccessful bid to save the Al-Qaeda leader's life before he was killed in a raid by US special forces, a top US official said Monday.
"There was family at that compound, and there was a female who was, in fact, in the line of fire that reportedly was used as a shield to shield bin Laden from the incoming fire," counter-terrorism official John Brennan said.
Pressed on reports the woman shot dead by Navy SEALs during a firefight at a compound in Abbottabad in Pakistan was one of bin Laden's four wives, Brennan told a White House briefing: "That's my understanding."
Brennan said it was not entirely clear "whether or not bin Laden or the son or whatever put her there or she put herself there" or whether the Al-Qaeda chief himself fired rounds during the exchange.
"From a visual perspective, here is bin Laden who has been calling for attacks, living in this million dollar plus compound, living in an area that's far removed from the front, hiding behind women who were put in front of him as a shield," he said.
"I think it really just speaks to just how false his narrative has been over the years, and so again looking at what bin Laden was doing, hiding there while he's putting other people out there to carry out attacks, again, just speaks to, I think, the nature of the individual he was."
In addition to the woman, Bin Laden was killed by a bullet to the head and senior US officials said two brothers believed to be his couriers and one of the Al-Qaeda chief's adult sons also perished in the raid.

No Pant Day May 6
It's casual Friday gone wild. Chances are, not wearing pants to the office or to a public school will, at best, result in a trip back home to find a pair of pants. No Pants Day is best celebrated by college students who have their own dress codes. In lieu of pants, the holiday calls for boxer shorts, boy brief-style underwear for women, slips or boxer briefs. While not wearing pants seems anything but a modest thing to do, supporters of No Pants Day do encourage participants to wear "thick, appropriately modest" underwear. Before you try to get too sneaky, skirts are not allowed.
The object of No Pants Day? "The point is to relax and enjoy the humor inherent in people not wearing pants," say the folks at NoPantsDay.com. The holidays falls suspiciously close to the morning after a night of Cinco de Mayo partying.
National Nurse's Day
May 6 kicks off National Nurses Week with National Nurse's Day. The week dedicated to the people who make hospital stays tolerable culminates on May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightinagle's birthday. Nightingale was born on May 12, 1820. She's considered a pioneer in the field of nursing, helping uplift the lowly profession once seen as merely menial, to a more honorable occupation for women. Nightingale modernized nursing and worked to rid hospitals of neglect, unsanitary conditions and high mortality rates.
Dorothy Sutherland of the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare sent President Dwight Eisenhower a request to proclaim a "Nurse Day" in 1953. Although the official proclamation was not made, the first National Nurses Week was observed in 1954. Celebrate National Nurse's Day by thanking a nurse.
Beverage Day
Some consider May 6 Carbonated Beverage Day, while others claim it's simply Beverage Day. Enjoy your favorite beverage of choice, from an iced chai to a concoction from your favorite microbrewery. Try something new at the local bar or mix up your own sangria.
No Diet Day
May 6 is a day to throw caution to the wind, by not wearing pants and indulging in your preferred beverage. Why stop there? Celebrate International No Diet Day, "a day to stop dieting, stop hazardous weight loss attempts" and to practice self-acceptance, according to Frances M. Berg, of HealthyWeight.net. Skipping a diet for a day may sound like a fun activity, but excessive dieting and obsessing about food is no laughing matter.
* Focus energy on increasing physical activity rather than temporarily eliminating entire food groups from your diet

National Nurses Day
National Nurses Week, May 6 – 12, recognizes the contributions of nurses working to improve the wellbeing of patients throughout the nation. Supplemental Health Care, a leading provider of workforce solutions for health care facilities and professionals, puts 1500–1600 nurses to work daily and is proud to honor this celebration through its appreciation program, Nurses Rock.
This enterprise-wide initiative will pay respect to the passion, enthusiasm and dedication nurses demonstrate in health care organizations every day.
National Nurses Week has celebrated the nursing profession since 1988, and commemorates May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale – known as the founder of modern nursing. Health care institutions nationwide participate in this week-long observance to acknowledge how nurses influence the United States’ health care industry. To support National Nurses Week, Supplemental Health Care is celebrating its nursing workforce through local Nurses Rock-themed events, gifts and cards. This week is an opportunity for the company to recognize nurses’ efforts in supporting other medical professionals, providing quality patient care and maintaining productive health care environments.
“Our Nurses Week program is only one facet of Supplmental Health Care’s commitment to honoring the exemplary performance of our nursing employees,” said Janet Elkin, Chief Executive Officer and President, Supplemental Health Care. “We continually seek new and creative ways to extend our appreciation to our nurses for their outstanding contributions to our health care facility partners throughout the nation.”
In addition to Supplemental Health Care’s Nurses Rock celebration, the company diligently works to support and uplift its nurses with a variety of corporate programs. The company has developed unique initiatives such as the Helping Hands Referral Program, which allows nurses to receive compensation for every hour a referred recruit works for the company; and the Our Rewards Program, a project awarding nurses with points for every hour worked that can be redeemed for more than 3,500 merchandise options. Collectively, these efforts help Supplemental Health Care ensure its nurses receive the recognition and praise they deserve every day of the year.
