No Pant Day May 6

 No Pants Day
It's casual Friday gone wild. Chances are, not wearing pants to the office or to a public school will, at best, result in a trip back home to find a pair of pants. No Pants Day is best celebrated by college students who have their own dress codes. In lieu of pants, the holiday calls for boxer shorts, boy brief-style underwear for women, slips or boxer briefs. While not wearing pants seems anything but a modest thing to do, supporters of No Pants Day do encourage participants to wear "thick, appropriately modest" underwear. Before you try to get too sneaky, skirts are not allowed.
The object of No Pants Day? "The point is to relax and enjoy the humor inherent in people not wearing pants," say the folks at NoPantsDay.com. The holidays falls suspiciously close to the morning after a night of Cinco de Mayo partying.
National Nurse's Day
May 6 kicks off National Nurses Week with National Nurse's Day. The week dedicated to the people who make hospital stays tolerable culminates on May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightinagle's birthday. Nightingale was born on May 12, 1820. She's considered a pioneer in the field of nursing, helping uplift the lowly profession once seen as merely menial, to a more honorable occupation for women. Nightingale modernized nursing and worked to rid hospitals of neglect, unsanitary conditions and high mortality rates.
Dorothy Sutherland of the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare sent President Dwight Eisenhower a request to proclaim a "Nurse Day" in 1953. Although the official proclamation was not made, the first National Nurses Week was observed in 1954. Celebrate National Nurse's Day by thanking a nurse.
Beverage Day
Some consider May 6 Carbonated Beverage Day, while others claim it's simply Beverage Day. Enjoy your favorite beverage of choice, from an iced chai to a concoction from your favorite microbrewery. Try something new at the local bar or mix up your own sangria.
No Diet Day
May 6 is a day to throw caution to the wind, by not wearing pants and indulging in your preferred beverage. Why stop there? Celebrate International No Diet Day, "a day to stop dieting, stop hazardous weight loss attempts" and to practice self-acceptance, according to Frances M. Berg, of HealthyWeight.net. Skipping a diet for a day may sound like a fun activity, but excessive dieting and obsessing about food is no laughing matter.
* Focus energy on increasing physical activity rather than temporarily eliminating entire food groups from your diet
