When Dancing With the Stars alum Niecy Nash walks down the aisle later this summer, don't expect any over-the-top diva antics.
The 40-year-old Nash says she doesn't even have a "bride gene" in her body.
"I really have no idea [how to plan a wedding]," Nash admits to UsMagazine.com ahead of her May 28 wedding to Jay Tucker. "Some women have been planning their wedding since they were 3-years-old, but I never put a sheet on my head and pretended it was a veil."
Despite announcing her engagement in September, Nash tells Us she stalled when it comes to planning her big day.
"All I have is a gainfully employed black man who loves me," she jokes of Tucker, her beau of just over one year. "I have maybe 115 days to get it all together. The first time I got married, I had folding chairs in my reception hall and a Styrofoam heart as a centerpiece for the table. There was a beautiful sign written in calligraphy that said 'Congratulations' on construction paper."
Nash knows she's got some catching up to do to outdo pal Sherri Shepherd, who got engaged in December.
"I'm getting married in May, she's getting married in August and yet she has more done than I do," says Nash, who enlisted her pal's help as one of her 10 bridesmaids. "It's been especially nice to go through these good times together, but I've got to get my own ideas. She'll show up to my wedding and it'll be her own ideas. I can't do that!"
Nash says her TLC special -- which will chronicle her wedding preparations and actual walk down the aisle -- came out of a desire to stay connected to her fans, along with getting planning advice.
"They have been so wonderful with passing along some of their business," Nash explains of the response she received after posting a notice on her website for support. "The main thing I want women to know is that you can get a second chance. You can get a do-over. Through this show, I want to tell them that the first time you fall in love doesn't have to be the last time."
