Surviving the Holiday Season Sober
Buddy T
From Buddy T, your Guide to Alcoholism
Whether you are new to sobriety or you have been clean and sober for years, the holiday season can be a treacherous time. Unfortunately, these days the "holiday season" lasts from Thanksgiving all the way through the Super Bowl game in January. Some say it begins with Halloween!
Dealing With the Holidays Sober
The holidays can be a time of great joy and celebration or a time of great pain, sorrow and depression for anyone. These can be particularly dangerous times for people who are in recovery, especially those in early recovery.

Tips From Others in Recovery
Carol D's Tip
Go late and leave early. I have found that no one notices -- or cares -- how long you are there.

Ed's Tip
Thank your Higher Power for your sobreity today and don't drink. Think how great it is to be sober today.

Carolyn's Tip
It's not what's in the glass that's important, it's what's in your heart.

Alyn's Tip
If I hang with the winners I won't pick up that first drink!

Connie's Tip
One thing I try to do during the holidays and at any other time I feel the stress is remember how it was.
