I really don't like TV shows that focus on low-income families and treat these families as somewhat entertainment-commodities. One of said shows would be "Andai Aku Menjadi". In this show, a guest star (usually a female) is required to live and work with a low-income family for a couple of days, and in between, she would cry and tell the viewers how sad she is to see how much this family "suffer" and struggle on a daily basis, and that she should be more thankful to God for having a better life than them. That boils me.
You see, doing such is no different than walking down the street and approach a random hawker and say, "oh my, your life is so tough. Thank God I have a better life". No matter how "poor" someone is or some people are, we should never belittle their status. I mean, seriously, you cry in front of someone you consider poor, because you're sad that he or she is so poor? Imagine how the poor person would feel. He/she will feel poorer, because someone is making it clearer for him/her that he/she is extremely poor.
I remember a guest star of the TV show giving her comments which more or less sounded like this: "I'm so sad, (cries), because he works so hard (cries), and it's so lonely here (cries). This man works every day picking up tree sticks and gets only Rp.10.000 a day, while I can spend so much for a single lunch (cries). There's no entertainment here, no shops, nothing. I always complain back in the city, while in fact there's so much entertainment there. We have cinemas, malls (cries). I can't imagine living his life".
And how does saying such a thing make that man feel any good?
Wouldn't it be much nicer if we actually made him feel better instead of poorer? Why do we need to emphasize on things he (currently) doesn't have and point out in front of his face that his life is "so poor"? Instead, we should appreciate his hard work whatever his "job" is, no matter how much he earns. We should remind him of how lucky he is, because he is given such good health and strength. We should tell him how much we envy his simple life in the village, because life in the city is full of complexities. We should provide him the faith that he can make a betterment in life if he works harder. We should support him to never feel disheartened, for life, no matter what, works in many different ways. And we guide him with whatever knowledge or information we have, so he can be inspired. If this is done, then providing him (and his family) some cash at the end of the show as a capital for him to start a (better) job would be more relevant.
Helping people is not supposed to be done only by (giving) money. But by (giving) moral support. And respect.

Bucket
The act of collecting thoughts is most of the times underrated. What people often value and appreciate is the view of someone running here and there working till late night with his or her cellphone constantly ringing being reminded of meetings one needs to attend. And yet those who sit quietly at home thinking what to do next is perceived as lazy and has nothing to do.
Collecting thoughts does not translate to doing nothing. It's the door to opening everything.

Sweet Dreams, Everyone.
A reason why having life principles is essential, is so we do not get carried away. As we grow older, as we financially improve and have more access to the many things this world has to offer, it's really easy to get carried away and forget our identity. Have a grip to hold on to and never let this world take over yourself. We're supposed to conquer the world, not the other way around.

Good Night.
You can cry and get upset. You can think the world is over and there's no hope. But end the feelings that very night and start fresh the next day. Life's short! :)

Quote of The Day

My Speed, Your Speed.
Today, I witnessed the slowest, oldest driver. Apparently he was a very old grandpa, driving a CRV on his own. I felt really sad to see how such an old man was allowed to drive all by himself without any company. Which also got me thinking: when we see a very slow driver, we often get upset and honk the car badly hoping that the driver will just go faster. But hey, we should always try to find out first why he's driving slow anyway. What if the driver was just not in the condition to drive faster?

Quote of The Day
"Life is no straight and easy corridor along which we travel free and unhampered, but a maze of passages, through which we must seek our way, lost and confused, now and again checked in a blind alley. But always, if we have faith, a door will open for us, not perhaps one that we ourselves would ever have thought of, but one that will ultimately prove good for us."

That's It.
It was my few days of depression. I wasn't stressed, I was in fact depressed. It's very hard to explain how I really felt and the reason behind..I guess it's all an accumulation of things that have been going on in my life. I've been trying to think about it, and I guess I came up with a conclusion: it's a mean world out there. There will always be people who lie to you, who loves bringing you down, who hates you for whatever reason.
S and I spent the night today just sitting in silence. He was very kind to let me just sit and not talk, cuz he knew I wasn't in the mood to talk about anything. I looked at him, and cried. He drove me home.
On our way, we saw a truck got into an accident, and from what we saw, it was pretty bad. I felt...awakened.
I might not be strong, but I am one happy girl. I will never let anything nor anyone take away that spirit. For whatever mistakes I have done, I have apologized. If I am not forgiven, then that's it. For whatever mess I made, I'm always trying my best to fix it. If my effort is not appreciated, then that's it.
We humans are humans. And we should appreciate and give credits to ourselves. If we spend our lives just to please everyone, when will it ever end?
Thank you, Allah. For every blessing. For keeping me safe and sound throughout my days.
I love You...:)

Knowledge Box
This is so random I know...but below are some tips you might find useful when studying:

Topshop lace top & beanie hat, Billabong denim shorts, Antyk Butyk necklace, DKNY watch from Urban Icon, Uniqlo tights, Up wedges

- Don't get caught in memorizing definitions or terms. When you are able to understand the most basic foundation (what, why, how), it's much easier to comprehend and explain things in your own words.
- Challenge things. Don't just read and say, "oh so that's how it works". Ask, "why does it work that way? Can it work as well if we change A into B?".
- For every topic we study, find a living example. Referring to examples is the greatest way to study.
- See the bigger picture. Try to understand how one connects to another. At the end, everything falls under a system. Think systematically.

Say, "I Am Happy".
"Being original" is addictive, because us who are used to being true to ourselves, will always need to be true to ourselves. It grows as a habit and builds up into a character, and once in that stage, it becomes ingrained into an establishment of a lifetime. There's something about it, really. Being original gives us the fullest gratitude and satisfaction of who we really are, that we embrace ourselves and the humankind happily. We become tolerant and appreciative towards everyone's differences, because we accept everyone to be individually unique. So we live peaceful, in life and in mind.
I believe in holding strong our cultural & moral values, and the significant importance of living responsible to God. But other than that, we should be free to set our minds and act on what we think is best for us, although such must be heavily noted that "what's best for us does not dis-benefit others" as well.
Say "no" when we simply don't want to.
Stand up when we don't agree.
Facilitate discussions, not kill ideas instantly.
Work on something we're passionate about.
Wear something we genuinely like.
Be proud of our physical appearance.
Be 100% original...:)

Like A G6
You know that saying, that when you're sane among the insanes, you'll eventually end up being the most insane? I think this describes my feeling the most. I am confused, because words seem to be flying around the air, and every time they fly, they mean differently. They take off with one but land with another. And within the process, I get lost.
Words can be the sweetest thing to hear, but they can hurt us worse than a knife. Feel before we think, think before we speak. At the end of the day, no words can actually heal a broken heart. We heal because we're just supposed to.
